To supplement the VORtex tracking system, one of our members built a
small APRS tracking device which could be attached to any flight train and
give position reports via VHF packet radio. The GPS we used
had the 60,000 foot altitude limitation, but it would have still given useful
information during ascent and descent.

This tracker flew on HamBONE-02A on June 10, 2002.
Unfortunately, an in-flight separation of the flight chain caused the GPS
unit to crash from 14,000 feet. It was never recovered.
